It’s a fasting diary, yo! I’ll keep a week to a page so it doesn’t get tooooo long.
I’ll be sharing my daily diary of 30 days of fasting! And before you ask, no, I won’t be surviving solely on water for an entire month (although, props to anyone who can do that). Instead, I’ll be incorporating different forms of fasting into my daily routine.
Some days, it might be water fasting, where I’ll only consume H2O for a certain period. Other days, I’ll practice intermittent fasting, where I’ll limit my eating window to a specific time frame. And on some days, I’ll simply do time-restricted eating, where I’ll abstain from food for a certain amount of time.
Now, why am I doing this, you ask? Well, for starters, I’m looking to shed some pounds and improve my overall health. But more importantly, I’m eager to challenge myself and see what I’m capable of. I mean, if I can resist the temptation of pizza for a whole day, what else can I do? If you really want to know more you can check out my why I’m doing this post.
So, grab a snack (or don’t, if you’re fasting with me), and follow along as I document my highs, lows, and everything in between. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two about fasting and how it can benefit your own life.
April 1, Day 1 – April Fasting Fools Begins!
Hello there, and welcome to my first entry for my 30-day fasting challenge! And yes, I know, it’s April Fool’s Day, and only a fool would start a fasting challenge on such a day. But hey, I’m that kind of fool! 😜
So, what can you expect from my #FastingDiary? Well, first and foremost, I promise to keep things as casual and hilarious as possible. After all, fasting doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom, right?
Now, let’s talk about Day 1. I started off with a delicious eggscapade of scrambled eggs and bacon. Yeah, I know, I already broke the “no food” rule, but cut me some slack! I’ve been on an egg fast for the last few days and needed to fuel up before officially starting my fast at 10:30 am. 🏁
To add to the fun, Aunt Flo also decided to pay me a visit today. Isn’t that just fantastic timing? 😒 But, as they say, life goes on, even during your cycle. And apparently, fasting during this time is ideal – so we’ll see how that goes! 😂
To keep things interesting, I’ve been chewing gum and sipping on water with LMNT electrolytes. I mean, I gotta ease into this whole fasting thing with a few crutches, right? Your girl is in it for the long haul! 😏
Ok I’m laying it all out there – here are my starting stats – I won’t update everything daily but might as well document along the way!

Fasting Diary Day 2, April 2
Today, I battled some gnarly hunger pangs, but I powered through with a little determination and some help from my trusty LMNT electrolytes. Seriously, shoutout to them for keeping me from falling over.
I’ve also added some liquid minerals and magnesium. My eyelid was starting to twitch like it was doing the Macarena, but the minerals seem to have nipped that in the bud. Who knew that fasting could turn you into a walking, talking science experiment?
Last night was a bit rough, but I can’t blame that entirely on the fast. A bunch of teenagers decided that 1 am was the perfect time to start a drum circle, so who needs sleep anyway, right?
Another fun side effect of fasting is feeling a bit chilly at times. Apparently, after about 18 hours of not eating, your body starts breaking down all sorts of things to use as fuel, including stored fat. It’s like a game of Jenga, but with molecules.
Speaking of fat, since I’ve been eating keto, I was already in a state of ketosis before starting the fast. But now that I’m two days in, I can tell I’m in an even deeper state of ketosis. It’s like I’m a fat-burning machine, and my body is loving it.
And here’s the real kicker: there’s some evidence that this stage of fasting can trigger a process called autophagy, which is basically like Marie Kondo-ing your body. Yes, you heard that right. Your body is breaking down damaged cells and replacing them with shiny, new ones. It’s like a DIY spa day, but for your insides.
So there you have it, folks. Day 2 is in the books, and I’m feeling…well, not too shabby, all things considered.

Fasting Diary Day 3 – Fasting, Blood Tests, and Gym Workouts – Oh My!
Hey there, welcome back to my Fasting Diary! As I’m writing this, I’m 55 hours into my fast and still going strong. Although, I haven’t decided how long I’ll keep this up. My longest previous fast was 5 days, but I gave in due to severe aching pain in my back and hips. Apparently, it was due to oxalate dumping, which sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. This time around, I’m keeping coffee in my fast to hopefully avoid any pain.
I did a gym workout today, mainly focusing on upper body resistance training. It was a bit of a struggle, but that might have more to do with the fact that it’s been over 10 days since my last gym sesh due to my cold and my son getting sick with gastro. Today was the first day I was able to get back there, and I felt really good after. But, I can already tell that I’m going to be sore tomorrow.
My fasting crutches have been coffee, electrolytes, and salt. I’m still feeling those hungry tummy grumbles, which come and go in waves. I’m seriously looking forward to taming that ghrelin monster and reaching the not hungry stage…like, yesterday would have been good.

I had another terrible night’s sleep, partly due to a child waking me up again. Don’t they grow out of that at some point? Anyway, it was tough to get back to sleep, but I still feel pretty good. Or maybe it’s just my body’s way of being too tired to feel anything else?
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention – I did a blood test today to check for 26 markers of metabolic health through Bio Health. I’ll be doing another one in 6 weeks to see how fasting affects these numbers. It’ll be interesting to see where I’m at and what progress I’ve made.
Now, let me tell you, getting blood out of my finger was quite the process. I’m pretty sure there was more blood on the counter than I got in the vial. And don’t even get me started on the struggle to milk my finger of those 2.5 ml of blood. Let’s just say, it was not my most graceful moment. But, I got it done, and I’m excited to see what the results will show.
All in all, Day 3 was another adventure in fasting. But, I’m still feeling good, still going strong, and ready to take on whatever comes my way. Bring on Day 4!
Fasting Day 4 – Broke the 72 hour barrier
Welcome back to Day 4 of my Fasting Diary! Today was a good day, folks. The hunger pains are finally gone, and I have plenty of energy to spare. It seems that drinking one cup of coffee a day is doing wonders in keeping the oxalate dumping pain away. Who knew coffee could be so magical? ☕
I also learned that fasting for 72 hours has some pretty amazing benefits. For starters, it can reset your immune system and reduce inflammation in the body. It also promotes autophagy, which is like a spring cleaning for your cells. Plus, it can increase insulin sensitivity and help regulate blood sugar levels.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any exercise in today, as I had my chiropractor appointment. But hey, self-care is important too, right? Plus, it’s always nice to have someone crack your back and make you feel like a brand new person. 😌
Overall, Day 4 was a success. No pain, plenty of energy, a little bit of pampering, and some newfound knowledge on the benefits of fasting for 72 hours.
Day 5 – Fasting Diary
Welcome to Day 5 of my Fasting Diary! It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster today, folks. It all started when I was making my daughter’s lunch and suddenly got hit with a wave of nausea. It felt like a hypoglycemic episode, but when I checked my blood sugar, it was totally normal. I ran to the bathroom, unsure of which end was going to be the victim of my nausea. Let’s just say, after things came out the other end, I felt instantly better. 💩
After that eventful start to the day, things were uneventful for the rest of the day. I had a few waves of a rumbling tummy, but nothing too serious. I’m still sticking to my one cup of coffee a day to keep away the oxalate dumping, and taking my salts and minerals to keep things balanced.
I even managed to hit the gym today and do a light full body resistance training session. It felt good to get moving and break a sweat. 💪
Overall, Day 5 was a bit of a bumpy ride, but I made it through. Here’s hoping that tomorrow is smoother sailing. See you on Day 6!
Day 6 Fasting Diary – The one where it all came out
Welcome back to Day 6 of my Fasting Diary! I’m still going strong, folks. Today, I decided to take things to the next level and get a colonic. It’s been over 20 years since my last one, and I figured it was time to clear out any toxins and such that might be hanging around. 💩
I’m happy to report that the colonic therapist said I can tell everyone I’m not full of shit. However, she did find some trapped wind and a few parasites (ewww). It looks like my liver is also under some stress, which I’m putting down to the fasting. She suggested a parasite cleanse, which I think I’m going to try, considering she saw the critters going down the tube. Gross, I know. 😬
Other than that, I’m feeling a bit tired today, especially after the colonic. Tomorrow will be Day 7, and unless something weird happens, I think I’m going to try to go for 10 days. I have my reasons for this, but I’ll share them with you tomorrow.
Until then, keep on fasting!

Day 7 Fasting Diary – Good Friday Feels
Hey there, Fasting Diary fans! Can you believe it’s already Day 7? Technically, I won’t complete the full 7 days of fasting until tomorrow morning, since I started on Day 1 with breakfast. But hey, close enough, right? 😜
Today has been the hardest day so far. I’m starting to have some serious food cravings – specifically, I’ve been dreaming of pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. 🍕 And to make things worse, it’s Easter weekend, so my social media feeds are filled with tempting treats. Come on, people, have some sympathy for a fasting girl!
Despite the food daydreams, I’m not actually feeling particularly hungry or anything like that. Just thinking about food all the time. Today, I started the parasite cleanse, and was worried it might upset my stomach, but so far, so good.
On a positive note, I measured my waist after yesterday’s colonic and it was down 2cm! That’s pretty huge. The therapist said I had a lot of trapped wind, so that was released, and now I’m a bit smaller. 😂
Another interesting observation – my vision has changed! Normally, I have terrible vision long distance and have needed multifocals for a few years now. But today, I found that I don’t need glasses to work on my computer – everything was nice and clear. Fasting is full of surprises, folks! 🤓
Tomorrow will mark the end of 7 days of fasting, and I’m going to take my measurements to see where I’m at. Stay tuned for Day 8, and keep on fasting! 💪
